The results of Belarusian-French archaeological expeditions will be presented at this exhibition.

Throughout 2012-2017 years the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus organized and conducted 6 international Belarusian-French archaeological expeditions at the site where Napoleon’s army and the Russian army crossed the Berezina River in 1812.

As a result of research in 2012-2017 about 4000 m2 in Studenka village (on the site of the Napoleon's army camp and the battle with the Russian army) has been studied, and the first attempt of archaeological localization of the bridges in 1812 was made. In cooperation with the diving club "Sea Pegasus" and archeologists-divers from the Free University of Brussels, Belarusian archaeologists have carried out local underwater archaeological investigations of the Berezina River water area.

The results of archaeological research (exhibits) discovered by the Institute of History of the NAS of Belarus and the Centre of Napoleonic Studies (France) at the place of crossing Berezina (Berezina project) will be presented to the French public at the exhibition "Napoleon on Berezina - Myth and Reality". In addition to the artifacts found during the Berezina project, the exhibition will feature interesting objects of the Napoleonic era from private collections: original sabers, swords, pistols, letters signed by Napoleon I, maps, engravings and paintings, reproductions depicting the Napoleonic era. With the participation of the re-enactors, the bivouac of Napoleonic soldiers will be recreated.

The Center for Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature Research of the NAS of Belarus will present exposition of national Belarusian costumes. The aim of participation in the exhibition is also to find new partners for the continuation of scientific cooperation between Belarus and France.
