The conference “Regulation of growth, development and productivity of plants” has been held for the eighth time (since 1999). This year the conference has gathered scientists from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, China, Tajikistan and Azerbaijan.
As Academician Nikolai Laman, Chair of the Science Committee of the 8th international scientific conference, said at the opening ceremony, “Plant physiology is a science, which has existed for more than 200 years. It has accumulated considerable experimental data on the physical and chemical organization of plants, self-regulation of functional systems, the adaptation of the plant organism to various stresses, becoming the theoretical basis of modern agriculture”. Due in no small part to these achievements “today we are involved in a great food revolution in the world with the rates of food production being higher than the rates of population growth”.
