Wetlands use to be discussed by experts from Germany, Belarus and Russia at NAS of Belarus on November 16, 2015

On November 16, 2015 the NASB Scientific and Practical Centre for Bioresources in cooperation with the Michael Succow Foundation for the Protection of Nature (Germany) will hold the international scientific workshop “The use of biomass and balance of greenhouse gases from natural and re-waterlogged lowland wetlands”.
The workshop will involve the leading scientists and experts in the area of wetland ecosystems sustainable management from the leading research centers and universities of Germany, Czech Republic, Russia and Belarus.
The event seeks to provide a platform for scientific community to discuss and share experience in wetland ecosystems sustainable use, assessment of greenhouse gases emission from wetlands and drained peatlands, use of wetland vegetation for biofuel and industrial raw materials. The workshop will put special emphasis on implementing in Belarus the paludiculture concept (using rewetted peatlands biomass for energy and raw materials) as an economically and environmentally better alternative to wetland ecosystems drainage.
