Belarusian Academic Quantum Center invites to public lecture on discovery of gravitational waves

On June 10, 2016 at 11:00 am a public lecture on the discovery of gravitational waves will be held in the NASB (Large conference hall, Nezavisimosti Ave., 66). The lecture provides information about the event that in the scientific world has been waiting for several decades. After a long search, the international LIGO Observatory discovered gravitational waves predicted by Einstein 100 years ago.

The event, which is the biggest achievement not only for astrophysics, but also for the world science in general, is opening a new branch of Physics — gravitational-wave astronomy. You will learn about the history of the search for gravitational waves, the LIGO experiment and new gravitational-wave experiments aimed at revealing the secrets of the Universe.

Lecturer — Yury P. Vyblyi, Candidate Phys.-Math. Sc., leading researcher of the laboratory of Theoretical Physics at the B. I. Stepanov Institute of Physics of the NAS of Belarus, famous scientist in the field gravitational interaction theory, relativistic cosmology.

The organizer of the lecture is Belarusian Academic Quantum Center.

Admission is free. Everyone is welcome.
