The International Committee of Slavists is a major international public research organization, which was composed of representatives of national committees of Slavists from forty countries and which coordinates scientific research in the field of Slavic studies in the world. The International Committee of Slavists is engaged in the preparation and holding of international congresses of Slavists.
International congresses of Slavists is a major international scientific forums to discuss problems of development, collaboration and distribution in the world of Slavic languages, literatures and cultures and their research. International congresses of Slavists have been conducted since 1929, every five years at a time in the Slavic countries. The last XV International Congress of Slavists took place in 2013 in Minsk (Republic of Belarus, Chairman of the International Committee of Slavists, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Alexander Lukashanets). At the plenary session held during the International Congress of Slavists it was decided to hold the next XVI International Congress of Slavists in 2018 in Belgrade (Serbia). Professor Bosko Suvajdzic was elected as Chairman of the International Committee of Slavists for the next five years.
The meeting will also discuss issues of development of Belarusian studies in Serbia and preparation of the Belarusian Slavists to participate in the XVI International Congress of Slavists in 2018.
The meeting will be held on June 30, 2016 at 10:00 am at the Center for Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature Research of the NAS of Belarus (Surganov Str., 1, bldg. 2, 3rd floor, room 302).
The center staff and teachers of philological departments of universities are invited to the meeting.
