1st All-Belarusian Forum on Food Security held in Institute of System Research in Agrarian-Industrial Complex

On October 12, 2016 on the eve of the World Food Day (October 16) the 1st All-Belarusian Forum on Food Security started its work on base of the NASB Institute of System Research in Agrarian-Industrial Complex. The Forum is held to define and solve problems of the world and national food systems, including the use of opportunities provided by the Republic's participation in the international integration formation of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).

As the Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Vladimir Gusakov stated before opening the Forum, the NAS of Belarus would complete development of the Food Security Doctrine until the end of the year. The doctrine will be a new program document on food security of our country instead of the current Food Safety Concept functioning since 2004. According to Vladimir Gusakov Belarus is now reaching a new level of solving the food security problem. It is about providing high quality food and the demand for Belarusian products in foreign markets, integration into the world food market, etc.

The organizers of the 1st All-Belarusian Forum on Food Security were the NAS of Belarus, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus, the Republican Scientific Unitary Enterprise "Institute of System Research in Agrarian-Industrial Complex of the NAS of Belarus", the International Research Center (cluster) for Food Security.

The event is attended by leading scientists and experts from Belarus, Russia and Uzbekistan. The Forum provided the work of four scientific sections. An exhibition of innovative youth projects and scientific developments by leading scientists is hosted in the lobby of the Institute of System Research in Agrarian-Industrial Complex of the NAS of Belarus. Thematic funds have been provided by the I. S. Lupinovich Belarus Agricultural Library of the NAS of Belarus.
