Chairman of Council of Republic Mikhail Myasnikovich and Deputy Prime Minister of Republic of Belarus Natalia Kochanova visit Republican Scientific and Medical Center "Cell Technologies" of NAS of Belarus

On November 4, 2016 the Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Natalia Kochanova, the Chairman of the NASB Presidium Vladimir Gusakov, the Minister of Health of the Republic of Belarus Vasily Zharko and some representatives of medical institutions of our country visited the Republican Scientific and Medical Center "Cell Technologies" of the NAS of Belarus.

The Director of SSI "Institute of Biophysics and Cell Engineering" Lyudmila Dubovskaya, the Head of Laboratory of the Institute Academician Igor Volotovsky and the Center researchers told about the main activities of the Centre, as well as about the results achieved and perspective directions for development of the organization. The dignitaries got acquainted with the stem cells bank and the production of biomedical cell products, visited the outpatient department.

During the visit issues of expanding the Center capabilities and problems which should be solved for further successful activities of the Center were discussed. The Chairman of the Council of the Republic Mikhail Myasnikovich noticed that it was currently necessary to make wider use of scientific achievements in medical care and to promote possibilities of the Belarusian advanced technologies more actively.

On December 5, 2014 the solemn opening of the Scientific and Medical Center "Cell Technologies" took place at the SSI “Institute of Biophysics and Cell Engineering of the NAS of Belarus.” The project was implemented under the state program "Innovative Biotechnologies" for 2010-2012 and for the period till 2015. The Center includes a therapeutic outpatient department, a surgery block, an ultrasound diagnostic room and day care wards. On the basis of the Center the stem cells bank and the production of biomedical cell products compliant with the GMP standards were established. The stem cells bank can store materials of 13 thousand patients on a long-term basis and of 40 thousand patients on a short-term basis. Currently, the Centre provides highly qualified services in treatment of limbs trophic ulcers with the use of autologous mesenchymal stem cells from adipose tissue, conducts personalized cryopreservation and cryostorage of mesenchymal stem cells of the patients, carries out the treatment for varicose veins, diseases of the parodontium and joints, burns, bed sores, and offers ultrasound diagnostics of organs and tissues.
