Books devoted to Belarusian and Chinese wisdom and architecture to be presented at the NASB Yakub Kolas Central Scientific Library

On 6 June 2017 at 3:00 p.m., the NASB Yakub Kolas Central Scientific Library (vul. Surhanava 15) will hold a presentation of a book on proverbs and sayings, and a book on architecture published by the Belaruskaya Navuka Publishing House.

The book on proverbs and sayings has become a result of the 1st scientific forum of the Belarusian and Chinese humanities scholars which was held in Shanghai and Beijing in 2015. The anthology contains the most typical proverbs and sayings of the Belarusian language, and their translation into the Chinese language. The book is richly decorated due to the joint creative work of the NASB Kandrat Krapiva Institute of Art Studies, Ethnography and Folklore, and the Belarusian State Academy of Arts. During the presentation of the book, an exhibition of works by artists, involved in its creation, will be held.

The motto of the other book (two cultures - one way) reflects parallels in the arts and architecture of Belarus and China. Academician Alexander I. Lokotko is its author. The book reveals common features and national peculiarities in the spiritual perception of nature, home and city semantics and semiotics, futuristic ideas of the inhabited environment formation. The chapter devoted to the author's theory of identity in architectural and artistic graphics is new and original. Fractal archetypes in arts, and self-similarity as a component of the paradigm of modern cultural identity are considered in detail. The NASB Center for the Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature Research, the NASB Kandrat Krapiva Institute of Art Studies, Ethnography and Folklore, the NASB Yakub Kolas Central Scientific Library, and the Belarusian State Academy of Arts are the organizers of the presentation.

The event will be held as a part of the Year of Science. It will be attended by representatives of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Republic of Belarus, the Confucius Republican Institute of Chinese Studies (the BSU), the NASB Department of Humanitarian Sciences and Arts, the Belarusian State Academy of Arts, the Belaruskaya Navuka Publishing House, and representatives of artistic universities.
