Sixth Congress of Physicists of Belarus to be opened on November 21, 2017

On 21 November 2017, at 9:30 a.m., the Sixth Congress of Physicists of Belarus will be opened at the B.I.Stepanov Institute of Physics of the NAS of Belarus (Minsk, praspiekt Niezaliežnasci 68, Large Conference Hall). The Congress is dedicated to the Year of Science and the Second Congress of Scientists of the Republic of Belarus.

On 21-23 November 2017, the Sixth Congress of Physicists of Belarus is to discuss the state and development of physical science and physical education in our country. Reports by leading scientists in optical science, nuclear physics and energy will be heard. Discussions on increasing role of physics and physical knowledge in the life of society and people's activities will be held. The discussion of influence of the results of physical research, including in the field of optics and laser physics, on the economy of our country will also be an important topic of the Congress. The influence of science in general and physics in particular on education and on the rise of interest of students and the public to technical sciences and disciplines will be considered.

Famous Belarusian physicists, representatives of the Ministry of Education and many educational institutions of our country, leading scientists from many countries worldwide, representatives of the International Laser Association, optical and physical societies of foreign countries, and Belarusian foreign diaspora will take part in the forum. The event is organized by the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus, the Institute of Physics of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Belarusian State University, the Belarusian Physical Society, and the Belarusian Republican Foundation for Fundamental Research.

The 15th International Conference on Quantum Optics and Quantum Information will be held in the framework of the Congress. The Conference is scheduled to discuss the issues of traditional quantum optics, materials and devices of quantum optics and quantum informatics, the development of hardware for scalable quantum computers, quantum memory, the interaction between photons and atomic qubits, quantum algorithms, quantum key distribution systems in optical fibers, etc.
