On 23 January 2018, a press conference dedicated to the Belarusian Science Day was held at the National Press Center of the Republic of Belarus.

Vladimir G. Gusakov, Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, told journalists that the past year was very productive for the Belarusian science, so it is necessary to preserve the previously achieved level of efficiency of scientists. The NAS of Belarus has announced recently Top 10 results of the NASB scientists work in 2017 in fundamental and applied research and will form Top 100 results.

Among the Top 10 results of the NASB scientists work in 2017 in fundamental and applied research are the development of a small-sized mobile supercomputer for processing large data sets and solving problems of high-precision modeling and design, the establishment of a molecular mechanism for suppressing human immunity by mycobacteria Mycobacterium tuberculosis in order to create new generation anti-tuberculosis drugs, the development of a methodology for converting an electronic spelling records of Belarusian words into phonetic transcription and creation of the first complete Belarusian linguistic reference book, and discovery of unique for world history Slavic settlements in Polesie.

Vladimir G. Gusakov stressed that at the moment the possibility of creating Akademtechnograd is being discussed at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. It is assumed that Akademtechnograd will unite all areas of technical and engineering profile. Such a project should help to introduce the latest developments of engineering sciences into mass production. As planned by scientists, Akademtechnograd will allow both qualitatively and quantitatively to improve the process of practical implementation of technical innovations of Belarusian scientists.
