Schoolchildren were told about Maxim Goretsky's life on International Mother Language Day in Yakub Kolas Central Scientific Library

On 21 February 2018, on the International Mother Language Day, the Yakub Kolas Central Scientific Library of the NAS of Belarus organized a cultural and educational event "Treasures of Maxim Goretsky's life" for pupils of 8th-10th grades. The event was dedicated to the 125th anniversary of the birth of Maxim Goretsky (1893-1938), classic of Belarusian literature, playwright, publicist, scientist, and teacher.

An exhibition of Maxim Goretsky’s books and manuscripts from the funds of the Central Scientific Library of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and educational program were organized for young readers. Radim G. Goretsky, Belarusian geologist, Academician of the NAS of Belarus, nephew of Maxim Goretsky, was invited to the meeting with young people. Addressing the children, Radim Goretsky congratulated everyone on the holiday of the native language and noted that the language for each nation is the most precious treasure that must be protected and preserved. He also shared his memories of his father Gavriil I. Goretsky and his uncle Maxim I. Goretsky.

Children were interested in the stories about the family of Maxim Goretsky, and numerous books which are kept to this day in the Yakub Kolas Central Scientific Library of the NAS of Belarus.
