Round table of think tanks of Belarus and China takes place in Institute of Economics of National Academy of Sciences of Belarus

On 23 April 2019, a round table discussion of think tanks of Belarus and China “Scientific and analytical support of the Belarusian-Chinese cooperation in the Belt and Road Initiative” to exchange views and discuss topical issues of development of the Chinese-Belarusian Great Stone Industrial Park and the Belarusian-Chinese trust comprehensive strategic partnership and mutually beneficial cooperation. The event was organized by the Institute of Economics of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus together with the Research Development Center of the State Council of the People's Republic of China with the support of the Main Department of international scientific and technical cooperation of the NAS of Belarus.

The event was attended by more than 40 representatives of leading scientific and expert-analytical centers, exploring various aspects of the Belarusian-Chinese relations, including the Belarusian Institute of Strategic Studies, the Institute of Economics of the NAS of Belarus, the Center for System Analysis and Strategic Studies of the NAS of Belarus, the Institute of Sociology of the NAS of Belarus, Belarusian State University (member of the SiLKS Association), Belarusian National Technical University, Belarusian State Economic University, Belarusian Economic Research Center, diplomatic corps and mass media.

Valery Belsky, Director of the Institute of Economics of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Zhang Junko, Vice-President of the Research Development Center of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, and Chen Weiwei, adviser to the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Republic of Belarus, addressed the meeting with a welcoming speech.

The round table of think tanks of Belarus and China “Scientific and analytical support of the Belarusian-Chinese cooperation in the Belt and Road Initiative” included following issues:
– Current state and prospects for the development of political, trade and economic, credit and investment, interregional, scientific and technological and humanitarian cooperation of the Republic of Belarus and the People's Republic of China;
– Business environment of the Republic of Belarus, actual and potential risks (including commercial, legal, investment, organizational, etc.), that Chinese investors may face in the Republic of Belarus and ways to overcome them;
– Problems of development of the Chinese market by Belarusian producers and attraction of direct Chinese investments;
– Promising mechanisms of international cooperation and formulating proposals for the development of the system of international standards for the Belt and Road Initiative in order to strengthen political dialogue.
