International Scientific and Practical Forum “Art space of Europe in the 19th – 20th centuries and Stanislaw Moniuszko: history, current state” to take part in National Academy of Sciences of Belarus

An International scientific and practical forum “Art space of Europe in the 19th – 20th centuries and Stanislaw Moniuszko: history, current state”, dedicated to the 200th anniversary since the birth of the classics of Polish and Belarusian music will take place in the NAS of Belarus on 30-31 May.

The forum aimed at establishing creative and scientific relations with leading foreign representatives of science, culture and art, discussing promising research and socio-cultural projects. Subject matters of the forum include art, cultural, local history and sociological issues, the most topical issues of Moniuszko’s artistic heritage research, studying the culture of Belarus in a European context, and perpetuating the memory of prominent cultural and art figures in the Republic of Belarus and the world.

The forum is organized by the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the NASB Center for Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature Research (Branch “The Kandrat Krapiva Institute of Art Studies, Ethnography and Folklore”). The forum is held with the support of the Polish Institute in Minsk. Leading experts from Belarus, Poland, Lithuania, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Moldova will take part in the event. It is expected over 100 participants from the Polish Academy of Sciences, Jagiellonian University, Adam Mickiewicz University, Lithuanian Cultural Research Institute, Vilnius University, Russian Academy of Sciences, Russian National Museum of Music, Rimsky-Korsakov St. Petersburg State Conservatory, Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet, Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts, Kazakh National Academy of Choreography, Institute of Cultural Heritage (Republic of Moldova) to take part in the forum. The forum includes the presentation a documentary about Stanislaw Moniuszko (Belarus 3 TV channel) and a concert performed by the Musical Chapel of the NASB Center for Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature Research. The presentation and the concert will be held on 30 May at 6 pm in the Yakub Kolas Central Scientific Library. Besides, there will be book exhibitions and a visit to the Museum of Ancient Belarusian Culture.

The cultural program for the second day of the forum (31 May) includes visits to memorable places related to composer’s life and work. Closing session will take place in Music room of Stanislaw Moniuszko in Smilovichi.
