The Museum of Ancient Belarusian Culture has opened doors on May 15, 1979, when solemnly was marked the 50-th Anniversary of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. Attached to the K.Krapiva Institute of Study of Arts, Ethnography and Folklore. The main purpose of the Museum is to create an experimental base for further development of many branches of a historical science -- history of arts, handicrafts, ethnography, esthetics. The main peculiarity of the Museum consits in complex approach to history of culture, in aspiration to reflect multilateral displays of the creative genius of the Belarusian people.
There are following field of its activities: the studies of ancient Belarusian arts and the acquisition of collections of icon-painting, sculpture, arts and crafts, archaeology, folk arts, "Chernobyl zone" etc.
