Optimizing interaction of factors of social-natural development. pp. 5--10

Summary: The article is considering the fundamental, general ecological and social factors of sustainable co-evolutionary development for the society and nature in Belarus. The criteria of their optimal cooperation and interaction in global and regional context are offered. The article concludes the necessity of ecological imperative of the 21 century founded on the social justice.

Biosocial and biocultural filters. pp. 11--15

Summary: The article "Biosocial and biocultural filters" is devoted to study fundamental problems of interaction and understanding between individual, society and culture. Author suggests introducing into active use of two new notions "biosocial filters" and "biocultural filters". These two ideas show the real process of mutual relations between individual and social-cultural environment, in resulting in filter of energy and information exchange. The most important functions of the biosocial and biocultural filters are: 1) adaptation of individual to the social-cultural environment, 2) exchange of information between individual and social-cultural environment, 3) individual socialization and inculturation. The important feature of the hypothesis is, that sex, age and biografy experience are interpreted as basic elements of forming biosocial and biocultural filters. These two new notions could expand and intensify research paradigms and methods in such branches of humanities as antropology, psycology, sociology, culturology.

Axiological aspects of concept "civil society". pp. 16--18

Summary: In valuable aspect, using heuristic potential of the concept of A. Vellmer emphasizing principles of real social practices, the concept of civil society relevant for modem political sociology is analyzed. The attention is focused on sense multivalency of the concept which causes certain problems in extrapolating theoretical schemes produced in the mainstream of the western sociology, on reality of the modem Belarusian society undergoing transformation.

Globalization and problems of realizing human rights. pp. 24--26

Summary: The article analyses the doctrinal backgrounds of the principal schools of human rights with respect to globalization and multiform manifestations in modem social and political life. The author demonstrates that it is crucial for progressive mankind to work out its own strategy and model of globalization, based on unconditional guarantees of exercising rights and freedoms of every person. Understanding essence of globalisation as an essential feature of modern civilisation, ultimate endeavour for social justice and aversion for violence as a means of settling conflicts -- these three features of humanism must prevail in political and legal culture of countries and peoples of the world.

Foreign trade problems in Belarusian economic theory in late 19 -- early 20 century. pp. 27--35

Summary: Genesis in economic concepts of Belarusian researchers on the frontier of 19-20 centuries of new trend - global economy and related foreign trade problems of North-Western provinces of tsarist Russia, now administratively integrated into Belarus is discussed in the article. Belarusian experts contributed into general national debate on this subject, studied import-export structure, financial, monetary, tariff and customs problems laying the basis for international economic relations.

Principles and mechanisms of monetary regulation from united currency-emitting center of state alliance. pp. 36--40

Summary: Real Time Gross Settlement Systems (RTGS) are efficient mechanism to reduce the systemic risk, and if liquidity is appropriately arranged and managed, can provide timely settlements among their members. A number of structural and individual factors affect the liquidity, and individual liquidity does not always determine the system liquidity. These and other statements can be used in establishing the single issue and settlement centre of the Union State of the Republic of Belarus and Russian Federation.

Situation in Belarus during Brest-Litovsk negotiations. pp. 41--46

Summary: Effect of peace negotiations in Brest on political developments in Belarus in the context of plans of Soviet and German authorities was analyzed. Kremlin interest in restricted national autonomy of Belarus in 1917 was followed by gradual loss of enthusiasm from central Soviet power. The Germans planned to receive call for help from internal law-enforcing bodies and attempted to trigger such response.

Bolshevik coalition with revolutionary-democratic parties of Belarus to cement new Soviet power. pp. 47--52

Summary: The article traces problem of relations between the Bolsheviks and other political parties (Russian Left and Right Socialist-Revolutionaries, Mensheviks, Belarusian Socialists, Jewish Bund) in Belarus during the October Revolution. The author throws light on the negotiations discussing formation of the new provincial Soviet government bodies.

Demographic situation in Polotsk region in 60--70s of 16 century. pp. 53--56

Summary: The demographic situation in northern part of Polotsk-region on 1560--1570 boundary is characterized. Moscow writters books have served as the general documentary material for study. On the basis of their analysis the conclusion is made that during first Livonian war the Polotsk region suffered severe demographic crisis.

Summary: The article is devoted to traditional masking in spring rituals of Belarusians at the XIX -- beginning of XX century. Semantics, functions, role and place of masking in Soroky, Voznesenie, Troitsa etc. spring holidays are analyzed in the article. The ritual actions, methods, objects, traditional Belarusian attributes are examined.

Foundation and development of hunting associations in Belarus from late 19 to early 20 centyry. pp. 63--67

Summary: The process of founding and development of voluntary hunting associations in Belarus (the end of the XIX - the beginning of the XX century) is traced back. Their composition and structure, functions and governing bodies, place and role in the social culture of the Belarusians are examined.

Area of competence and functions of common law in Belarus. pp. 68--72

Summary: The object of research is non-written, primitive Law of the Belarusian rural population from XVI - to XX century. The author analyzed the functions and sphere of use of ancient customs in legal and ethic field.

Greenery symbols representing ancestors in archaic rites. pp. 73--79

Summary: For the first time the generalized data on the links between the cut green tree-branches and the Trinity ritual "Dzyady" are reported in literature. On the basis of the new findings analysis and theoretical generalization the author came to the conclusion that the ancestors cult was a historical precursor of its whole nve-value system. It is corroborated that tree-branches (e.g. birch-tree) symbolized the dead ancestors during the Trinity ritual actions. It has vital importance for solving the problem of the functional nature of the archaic Trinity rituals. Symbolic significance of cut green tree-branches is disclosed.

Marriage rites in Bilarusian Palesye in the first half of 20 century. pp. 80--86

Summary: The aim of the article is the reconstruction and analysis of the structure of the wedding ceremony in Belarusian Polesie in the first half of the 20th century. This aim is realized through consideration of the ceremony's functions. Author proves that the ceremony functions to dismiss oppositions between subjects of the wedding ceremony.

Hard verse forms in contemporary Belarusian poetry. pp. 87--94

Summary: Different hard forms of verses in modem Belarusian poetry (sonnet, wreath of sonnets, triolet, terza rima, octave, rondeau, rondel, gazelle, tautogram, etc.) on the basis of works of L. Dranko-Maysyuk, V. Shnip, L. Rublevskaya and E. Akulin, genre-ideological searches of these poets, their inheritance of tradition and innovation are investigated in the article.

Summary: Problem of belle-lettres approach to investigations and criticism is exemplified by literary portrait of U. Karatkevich depicted by U. Kalesnick. Artistic and emotional bias of the work is emphasized, intricate combination of fiction and real facts is accentuated.

Image of Belarusian intellectual in works of M. Garetsky and in modem short prose (1985--2000). pp. 101--107

Summary: This article is first research on more extensive subject "The figure of Belarusian intelligentsia in works of M. Goretsky and in modem young prose (1985--2000)". Two types of idealists-intellectuals "in one's heart of hearts" (deep in soul) are scrutinized in this work by instancing the main heroes of A. Kazannickov novel "The spring of hope" (1985) and of L. Rubleuskaja story "The Semela and Jupiter" (1996) in juxtaposition with lyrical hero of M. Goretsky. The author of this small research determines main spiritual principles of Andrey Gulich and Auginnija Kudyka and comes to the conclusion that the analyzed figures are of positive character.
