NAS of Belarus Initiated Organization of All-Belarusian Campaign on Creation of National Chronicle of Great Patriotic War

On March 13, 2020, the Institute of History of the NAS of Belarus held an official meeting dedicated to presentation of All-Belarusian Campaign National Chronicle of the Great Patriotic War: We Remember Everyone! It involved leading scientists, military historians of the NAS of Belarus, representatives of higher educational establishments, archives, public organizations of the country.

The National Academy of Sciences initiated organization of the All-Belarusian Campaign on Creation of National Chronicle of the Great Patriotic War. The aim of this campaign is to eternalize and keep memory of the victors’ generation. The participants of the meeting emphasized that every Belarusian family keeps memory on the Great Patriotic War. It is essential that everyone could send materials, photos taken during the war period, recollections of the relatives to be introduced into the database. These materials can be sent by email, by post or delivered personally. The Centre of Military History of the Institute of History of the NAS of Belarus will be a centre of such activities.

The issues discussed during the meeting included: current status of activities on preservation of memory of the Great Patriotic War in the Republic of Belarus (scientific historiography, museumification, memorialization by means of fine literature and arts, use in academic process and publishing in mass media); representation of concept and methods of current state of activities on creation of the National Chronicle of the Great Patriotic War; continued centralized work on updating of historical and Memory documentary chronicles about Belarusian cities, towns and regions and creation of their soft copies. A special attention will be paid to activation of these activities at all levels and involvement of patriotic public organizations in creation of the Chronicle of the Great Patriotic War.

The official meeting also included presentation of scientific publications about the Great Patriotic War and exhibition of thematic literature.
