Expert and analytical support for scientific and humanitarian cooperation between Belarus and China discussed at NASB Institute of Economics

On 18 January 2018, the Belarusian-Chinese scientific and practical seminar on expert and analytical support for scientific and humanitarian cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and People's Republic of China in the context of implementation projects of One Belt, One Road Initiative was held at the Institute of Economics of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

The event was organized by the Institute of Economics of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Institute of world Economics and politics Chinese Academy of social Sciences in the framework of existing agreements on scientific cooperation.

The scientific and practical seminar covered the following areas:
1. Expert and analytical support for Belarusian-Chinese cooperation.
2. Priorities for the implementation of the national development strategies of Belarus and China.
3. Ways to link the One-Belt, One Way Initiative and the foreign policy development strategy of the Republic of Belarus.
4. Prospects for deepening trade and economic cooperation between Belarus and China.
5. Directions of development of Chinese-Belarusian Iindustrial Park.

More than 40 representatives of scientific organizations, universities, government bodies, mass media, business community and experts interested in developing the Belarusian-Chinese scientific and trade and economic cooperation took part in the Belarusian-Chinese scientific and practical seminar.

Aleksandr Kovalenya, Academician-Secretary of the Department of Humanitarian Sciences and Arts of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Valery Belsky, Director of the Institute of Economics of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Yuyan Zhang, Director of the Institute of World Economy and Politics of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, addressed the seminar participants and made welcoming remarks.

Thematic reports were presented by Yuyan Zhang, Director of the Institute of World Economy and Politics of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Yuri Alekseev, Director General of the Science and Technology Park of BNTU “Polytechnic”, Vice-Rector for production activity of the Belarusian National Technical University, Igor Leshchenok, Deputy Head of the Administration of the China-Belarus Industrial Park “Great Stone”, Xu Baoming, Deputy Director for Economic Affairs of Industrial Park Development Company, Dmitry Primshits, Deputy Director for Research and Innovation at the NASB Institute of Economics, Ren Lin, Senior Researcher at the International Strategies Department of the Institute of World Economics and Politics of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Vadim Sugak, Officer-in-Charge of the Belarusian-Chinese Analytical Development Center of the NASB Institute of Economics, Tatiana Vertinskaya, Head of the World Economy and Foreign Economic Studies Department of the NASB Institute of Economics, Galina Turban, Head of the International Business Department of the Belarusian State Economic University, Elena Dostanko, Head of the Center for international studies of the Faculty of International Relations of the Belarusian State University. Experts from research organizations, diplomatic corps, state bodies and mass media took part in the discussion on the issue of the seminar.

Summing up the results of the Belarusian-Chinese scientific and practical seminar on expert and analytical support for scientific and humanitarian cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and People's Republic of China in the context of implementation projects of One Belt, One Road Initiative, Valery Belsky, Director of the Institute of Economics of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, and Yuyan Zhang, Director of the Institute of World Economy and Politics of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, noted the need to deepen further scientific cooperation, implementation of new forms of interaction and expansion of the list of joint projects.
