Briefing on Union State “DNA Identification” Program takes place at NASB Institute of Genetics and Cytology

On 22 February 2019, a briefing on the implementation and prospects of the Union State's program “Development of innovative genogeographic and genomic technologies for personality identification and individual characteristics of the person on the basis of the study of gene pools of the Union state regions” (“DNA Identification”) took place at the Institute of Genetics and Cytology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

Nikolai Yankovsky, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Scientific Director of the Vavilov Institute of General Genetics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, program supervisor (Russian Federation); Alexander Kilchevsky, Chief Scientific Secretary of the NAS of Belarus, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Scientific Director of the Program (Republic of Belarus), Ruslan Sheiko, Director of the Institute of Genetics and Cytology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Irma Mosse, the head of the laboratory of human genetics at the Institute of Genetics and Cytology of the NAS of Belarus, and Svetlana Borinskaya, the head of the laboratory at the Vavilov Institute of General Genetics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, participated in the briefing.

Scientists spoke about the results of the implementation of the Union State's “DNA Identification” Program It was announced that Belarusian and Russian scientists have started to develop a new Union program under the working title “DNA Identification 2”. The new program is aimed to maximize the use of innovative technologies obtained as a result of the first stage of the program in the practice of the Union State organizations. The participants of the event answered numerous questions from the media.
