National Academy of Sciences joins Our Children charity campaign

On 24 December, the leaders of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus joined the Republican charity campaign Our Children. Chairman of the NASB Presidium Vladimir Gusakov, Deputy Chairman of the NASB Presidium Sergey Chizhik, Chief Scientific Secretary of the NAS of Belarus Andrey Ivanets, and Chairman of the Trade Union Committee of the NAS of Belarus, Deputy Academician-Secretary of the Department of Chemistry and Earth Sciences Vladimir Levashkevich visited the SOS Children's Village Borovlyany. They wished children Happy New Year and gave them a bicycle and sweets. The guests have seen the living conditions, social, psychological, pedagogical and legal services that are provided to children.

Every year, during the New Year's nationwide charity campaign Our Children, heads of ministries and heads of government agencies, including local executive officials, representatives of public associations visit orphanages and foster homes, families who raise children with disabilities, rehabilitation centres and facilities for children with special needs, as well as hospitals. They wish children Happy New Year and Merry Christmas, give them gifts and help to resolve their issues. The charity campaign will run through 10 January 2020.

In 1995, the SOS Children's Village Borovlyany has initiated developing Children's Villages in the Republic of Belarus. It focuses on children at risk of losing parental guardianship or who have already lost it. It aims to give to each child a family, love, respect and safety. For children who have lost their parents, they try to create a family atmosphere here. Long-term guardianship in SOS families provides quality professional care for orphans and children left without parental guardianship.
