Vasily Nikolaevich Shlapunov (b. 30.07.1932, v. Belaya Dubrava, Kostyukovichi district, Mogilev region - 04.08.2021), a scientist in the field of fodder production. Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (2003), Academician of the Academy of Agrarian Sciences of the Republic of Belarus (1996-2002), foreign member of the Ukrainian Academy of Agrarian Sciences (1999), Doctor of Agricultural Sciences (1988), Professor (1989).
Scientific work in the field of fodder production. Developed scientifically based technologies for the cultivation of maize in Belarus (optimization of terms and density of sowing, fertilizer application systems, tillage, protection from weeds, harvesting time), scientific principles of formation and technology of cultivation of 2-3 year old highly productive agrophytocenoses of annual herbs. The proposed zonal systems and technologies for the cultivation of intermediate crops (winter crops, seed crops, planting and crop). Improved systems for the production of vegetable protein for livestock. He studied the laws of crop formation and changes in the nutritional benefits of winter and spring rape, winter rape, white mustard, oilseed radish depending on agro-climatic resources, fertilizer system, density of grass stands, tillage and other factors.
Author of over 280 scientific papers, incl. 7 monographs, author of 16 corn hybrids zoned in Belarus, 2 varieties of Sudanese grass and varieties of oilseed radish Nika.
Awarded the Order "Badge of Honor" (1976), medal.
