Institutes of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus present scientific developments of the 1960s-1980s at the exhibition Dialogue with Space

On May 11, 2023, in the Mikhail Savitsky Art Gallery, within the framework of the russian-belarusian museum forum, the opening of the exhibition Dialogue with Space was held, organized by the Museum of the History of the City of Minsk together with the United Memorial Museum-Reserve of Yuri Gagarin, Memorial Museum of Cosmonautics (Moscow), Archive of the RAS with the participation of the National Agency for Space Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

The first part of the exhibition Dialogue with Space, dedicated to the World Aviation and Cosmonautics Day, opened in Minsk at the end of March 2023 on the eve of the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia. For the russian-belarusian museum forum, the exhibition has been expanded and supplemented with unique exhibits presented, among others, by the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

The scientific developments of the 1960s-1980s of the Institute of Physics named after B.I. Stepanov of the NAS of Belarus, the Institute of Heat and Mass Transfer named after A.V. Lykov of the NAS of Belarus took their places in the exposition.

The Barkhan spectrometer and the SKIF aerospace spectrometric microprocessor system developed at the Institute of Physics of the Academy of Sciences of the BSSR, the prototypes of which were operated at the Salyut-7 orbital station, are presented. In 1986, the SKIF system was removed from Salyut-7 and delivered to the Mir orbital complex.

The Institute of Heat and Mass Transfer presents samples of heat-protective materials used in the projects Buran, Progress, Phobos-Grunt, ExoMars, as well as a plasmatron (in section) – the main element of the installation for testing materials for resistance to high-energy flows.

The exhibition Dialogue with Space is open until June 25, 2023 at 15 Svabody Square, Minsk.
