On May 24, 2023, the first meeting of the republican interdepartmental working group on overcoming infectious threats was held under the leadership of the Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus Vladimir Gusakov.

Svetlana L. Kondaurova, Deputy Director of the Belarusian Research Center for Pediatric Oncology, Hematology and Immunology, Candidate of Medicine, made a report Organization of Infection Control in the Framework of Prevention and Rational Therapy of Infectious Diseases. Elena F. Kachanko, Head of the Infectious and Epidemiological Department of the Republican Clinical Medical Center of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Belarus, Candidate of Medicine, made a report Monitoring of Antimicrobial Drug Resistance in a Multidisciplinary Hospital. Vasily G. Bogdan, Academic Secretary of the Department of Medical Sciences of the NAS of Belarus, Doctor of Medicine, Professor and Leonid P. Titov, Head of the laboratory of the Republican Research and Practical Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology, Academician, Doctor of Medicine, Professor, told about the integration platform of the NAS of Belarus on effective cooperation in the field of scientific research related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The interdepartmental group for overcoming infectious threats was established in order to coordinate the activities of scientists and carry out scientific research aimed at identifying the occurrence and spread mechanisms of infections, various aspects of the pathogens of a new type impact on living organisms, determining the conditions, means and new methods of providing medical care to patients, the impact of infectious risks on labor, social, economic relations in society, minimizing the consequences of epidemics and pandemics. The republican interdepartmental working group on overcoming infectious threats included 59 scientists of academic, university and branch science. This group unites a wide range of specialists in the field of infectology and carries out its activities in continuation of the work of the Republican Interdepartmental Working Group on Overcoming COVID-19 with consideration of various aspects of current problems in the prevention of infectious threats to the health of our country’s population. The experience of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus in creating a unified integration platform for academic scientists, teachers and medical workers of practical healthcare to solve acute problems of modern infectious threats, minimize them and prevent the development of diseases will be used in the activities of the new association of specialists.
