Press conference held on Priority Areas of Scientific Research in 2024

On January 29, 2024, a press conference was held on Priority Areas of Scientific Research in 2024 in the Press Center of the Press House. On behalf of the NAS, the press conference was attended by the Chief Scientific Secretary of the NAS Vasily Gursky, Chairman of the Council of Young Scientists of the NAS Stanislav Yuretsky and Director of the Centre for System Analysis and Strategic Research of the NAS Valery Goncharov. The scientists talked about priority areas in science, new discoveries in the near future, cooperation with foreign countries and much more. At the end of the press conference, the scientists answered numerous questions from journalists.

As Vasily Gursky noted, one of the promising areas is biotechnology research. Belarus has a serious scientific basis in this area, and developments are also used in practice. Thus, the Belarusian National Biotechnology Corporation actively cooperates with scientists and implements their developments. Belarus is also developing such a strategic direction as microelectronics. "Scientific support for the development of microelectronics, artificial intelligence, and software is very important for us in the future," the Chief Scientific Secretary stressed. Research in the field of medicine, pharmacy, and the production of new materials with specified properties is also relevant. The most important task for scientists is the development of electric transport and unmanned vehicles. "The NAS of Belarus has created an almost complete component base for the development of its electric transport - an electric motor, a gearbox, a hardware and software complex for vehicle control," Vasily Gursky drew attention.
