On May 21, 2024, the Institute of Philosophy of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus is holding an international scientific conference on the Dialectical Methodology in the System of Transdisciplinary Research dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding Belarusian philosopher of the second half of the 20th – early 21st centuries, one of the founders of the academic philosophical school of Belarus, Academician of the NAS of Belarus Dmitry Ivanovich Shirokanov (1929–2023).
The purpose of the conference is to discuss the scientific heritage of Dmitry I. Shirokanov and his contribution to philosophical methodology, to summarize the experience of philosophical research in the second half of the 20th – early 21st centuries in the field of ontology and theory of knowledge and to determine the prospects for the development of philosophical knowledge in modern conditions. An essential characteristic of his work is the focus on solving the deep problems of philosophical knowledge. Dmitry Ivanovich's numerous works have made a significant contribution to the development of philosophical thought in our country. His research has received wide international recognition.
The range of Dmitry I. Shirokanov's philosophical interests and the problems he studied is extremely wide: dialectics of the necessary and accidental; interrelation of dialectics categories; dialectical interpretation of the formation and development of knowledge categories; research of interpretations of categories of German classical philosophy; dialectics of interrelation of knowledge categories in philosophical studies of the 20th century; principles of theoretical thinking in the history of knowledge; disclosure of the specifics of modern style of thinking and related methods of cognition.
