On December 5, 2016 the NAS of Belarus hosted a seminar "On implementation in the Republic of Belarus the state information system of identification, registration and traceability of farm animals (herds), identification and traceability of products of animal origin".

The event was attended by representatives of the Committee on Agriculture and Food of the regional executive committees, experts from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus, experts from the State Institution "Centre of Information Systems in Animal Breeding" and experts from the State Unitary Enterprise "Centre for Identification Systems" of the NAS of Belarus.

During the seminar the possibilities of the state information system of identification, registration, traceability of animals and products of animal origin in the Republic of Belarus were demonstrated, the problematic issues, including the issue of giving the status of the AITS GIS component of the national system of traceability of products of animal origin for interaction with information systems of other states EAEU members in cross-border trade, were discussed.

State information system of identification, registration, traceability of animals and products of animal origin (SIS AITS, www.aits.by) was developed by the State Enterprise "Centre for Identification Systems" of the NAS of Belarus. The AITS SIS is used to register pet owners of all forms of ownership and livestock facilities, as well as directly identification of animals. The system provides traceability of the life cycle and health status of animals on the basis of international, national norms and standards in the field of identification of animals and products of animal origin. The purpose of this information system is to provide state regulation and management in the identification, registration and traceability of farm animals (herds), identification and traceability of products of animal origin, to obtain reliable information about farm animals (herds). In terms of competition in the international markets, especially in view of open EAEU borders, Kazakhstan's accession to the WTO and other mechanisms of operational (on-line) traceability, it is not only safety animals and citizens, but also a kind of modern look to pass to markets of developed countries.
