On February 21, a round table discussion "Language in Education, Science, and Law" will be held at the NASB Yakub Kolas Institute of Linguistics (vul. Surhanava, 1, building 2, room 302) at 3.00 p.m.

Representatives of state bodies of the Republic of Belarus, deputies of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly, leading scientists in different fields of science, teaching staff, journalists, and amateurs of native language are invited to participate in the discussion.

The issues to be considered at the round table discussion:

recent advances and current issues of the Belarusian language functioning in terms of state bilingualism;

the role of academic science in supporting needs of language practice in the country;

opportunities and prospects for the use of the Belarusian language as a real means of communication in education, science, law, and other spheres of social life;

traditions and innovations in solution of the language issue in Belarus and reflection on positive experiences;

national languages in the modern world as a means of preserving cultural characteristics and national identity;

language of science and education as a necessary element in the formation of the national mentality;

national language and national idea of the Belarusians.
