Press conference on genetic passport of Belarusian, disclosure of genetic nature of longevity and research in genetics of aging and longevity held

On 16 October 2018, a press conference on a genetic passport of a Belarusian, disclosure of genetic nature of longevity and research in the field of genetics of aging and longevity was held at the National Press Center of the Republic of Belarus. The event was attended by Irma Mosse, Head of the Laboratory of Human Genetics of the Institute of Genetics and Cytology of the NAS of Belarus, and Elena Mikhalenko, Leading Researcher of the Laboratory of Ecological Genetics and Biotechnology of the Institute of Genetics and Cytology of the NAS of Belarus.

Irma Mosse told that any person has access to genetic testing and can get a genetic passport at the Institute of Genetics and Cytology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. One can test his/her sensitivity to drugs or undergo full examination including testing of 60 genes and getting full genetic passport.

The Institute of Genetics and Cytology of the NAS of Belarus is the only institution in Belarus officially accredited to conduct such research.

Elena Mikhalenko informed media about joint research with Italian scientists aimed at increasing longevity and studying the role of genes in that problem.
