NASB scientists to present proven and new developments at TIBO-2018
Some of the NASB organizations will participate at the 25th Anniversary International Exhibition ТIBО-2018. The exhibition will be held in Minsk on May 14-18, 2018. Among the participants of the exhibition, there are five scientific organizations of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
Contest for grants of President of Republic of Belarus in Science announced for 2019
Pursuant to the Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus of September 13, 2013 No. 425 «On Grants of the President of the Republic of Belarus in Science, Education, Health Care, and Culture» (the National Legal Internet Portal of the Republic of Belarus, 18.09.2013, 1/14521), the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus announces a contest for grants of the President of the Republic of Belarus in Science for 2019 in order to provide financial support to the activities having priority importance for the development of science.
Meeting of organizational committee on preparation and holding events to mark 25th anniversary of International Association of Academies of Sciences held at NAS of Belarus
On 4 May 2018, a meeting of the organizational committee on preparation and holding events to mark the 25th anniversary of the International Association of Academies of Sciences (IAAS) was held at the NAS of Belarus. The main celebrations are planned to be held on the basis of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus on September 20–21, 2018. Senior officials of the Academies of Sciences of the CIS countries and leading foreign academies, and famous scientists will arrive in Minsk.
Third Zeldovich meeting held in Minsk
On 23-27 April 2018, an international conference on astrophysics, dedicated to Yakov Borisovich Zeldovich, a native of Belarus, the founder of the Russian school of relativistic astrophysics, the creator of the Soviet atomic bomb and the developer of the famous Katyusha, is held at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The conference brought together leading scientists from different countries, namely Belarus, Hungary, Germany, Italy, China, Colombia, Poland, Russia, Slovenia, Taiwan, Ukraine, Croatia, and Estonia.
Agreement on cooperation between NASB Institute of Philosophy and National Institute of Social Development of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences signed
On 25 April 2018, a scientific and practical seminar "The One Belt and One Road Initiative and Management Philosophy in a New Era" was held at the Institute of Philosophy of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. Anatoly Lazarevich, Director of the NASB Institute of Philosophy, welcomed the participants of the seminar.
The seminar is a regular event of the Sino-Belarusian Philosophy and Culture Research Center, which was created in 2017 in the framework of cooperation between the Institute of Philosophy of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Lynnan Pedagogical University. The Center's activities allow to expand partnership with different institutes of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, considered to be a strategic partner in the field of social, humanitarian and philosophical research.
Vice Chairman of NASB Presidium Sergei Kilin and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Andrei Dapkiunas meet delegation of International Center for Relativistic Astrophysics Network
On 24 April 2018, Sergei Kilin, Vice Chairman of the NASB Presidium, and Andrei Dapkiunas, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, met delegation of the International Center for Relativistic Astrophysics Network (ICRANet) headed by the Director of the Center, Professor Remo Ruffini.
During the meeting, the sides discussed the expansion of international scientific cooperation in the field of relativistic astrophysics, participation of Belarusian scientists in ICRANet programs, joint research and events. R. Ruffini expressed interest in official accession of Belarus to ICRANet and opening of the Center’s office in Minsk. Its branch ICRANet-Minsk opened on the basis of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus in 2017, and the event is considered to be the first stage in this process.
Ambassador of Belarus in France Pavel Latushko gives invitation from Vladimir Gusakov to President of French Academy of Sciences Sébastien Candel
On 23 April 2018, Pavel Latushko, Ambassador of Belarus in France, met with Sébastien Candel, President of French Academy of Sciences. Pavel Latushko gave an invitation to visit Belarus from the Chairman of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Vladimir Gusakov to the French side. The Belarusian side invites to discuss scientific cooperation and coordination of new directions and mechanisms of joint scientific and technical activities between Belarus and France.
International Scientific Symposium "Subparticles, Nuclei, Atoms, and the Universe: Processes, Structure" (SNAUPS 2018) to open at NAS of Belarus
On 23 April 2018 (Monday), at 11:00 a.m., the International Scientific Symposium "Subparticles, Nuclei, Atoms, and the Universe: Processes, Structure" (SNAUPS 2018) will open at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The forum is held in memory of Ya.B. Zeldovich, a famous scientist, Academician, who was born in Minsk.
NASB Institute of Economics and Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences of Royal Academy of Cambodia conclude agreement on scientific cooperation
On 16 April 2018, the delegation of the Institute of Economics of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the delegation of the Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences of the Royal Academy of Cambodia met in Beijing to discuss the prospects for scientific cooperation. The meeting resulted from the International Scientific and Educational Seminar on Social and Economic Development of Developing Countries organized by the International Cooperation Center of the National Development and Reform Commission of the People's Republic of China.
Results of 4th Student Natural Sciences Tournament summed up
On April 9-15, the 4th Student Natural Sciences Tournament was held at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Belarusian State University. Students from twelve universities in Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, France and Germany, including the BSU, BSUIR, Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno students attended the tournament.
On April 19-20 NASB Institute of Radiology to hold international scientific and practical conference "Chernobyl and Science: Experience in Overcoming the Consequences"
On 19-20 April 2018, the Institute of Radiology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus will hold an international scientific and practical conference "Chernobyl and Science: Experience in Overcoming the Consequences." Specialists engaged in radioecology, radiobiology, agroecology, radiochemistry, prevention and elimination of technogenic emergencies, psychology and sociology will come to Gomel from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine and France.
Young Academy of Norway and Letten Foundation invite to compete for prize for young researchers
The Young Academy of Norway and the Letten Foundation invite to compete for the Letten Prize for young researchers. The Prize is awarded every other year to researchers under the age of 45, working in the fields of health, environment, development and equality in many aspects of human life. The deadline is 31 May 2018. Researchers from all over the world can apply for the Prize of 2 million NOK (about 215 000 EUR/260 000 USD) which will be awarded in Oslo on September 13, 2018.
NASB representatives take part in opening of exhibition "Spiridon Sobol, Belarusian Printer"
On 10 April 2018, a temporary exhibition "Spiridon Sobol, Belarusian Printer" opened at the State Museum of the History of Belarusian Literature. This is the project prepared jointly with the Y. Kolas Central Scientific Library of the NAS of Belarus, the Museum of History of Mogilev, the National Library of Belarus, and the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus. The exhibition presents rare editions of the 17th century, including the lifetime edition of Spiridon Sobol "Limanar", printed in Kiev in 1628, etc.
Ivan V. Saverchenko, Director of the Yanka Kupala Institute of Literature of the NAS of Belarus, delivered his welcoming speech at the opening ceremony and emphasized the need to popularize Spiridon Sobol publications by digitizing them. Polina D. Skurko, Researcher of the Department of Rare Books and Manuscripts of the Yakub Kolas Central Scientific Library of the NAS of Belarus, told about interesting publications stored in the library and the work of the department on digitizing old printed publications such as "Leksikon Slavenorosskiy" (they are presented on the temporary exhibition).
NAS of Belarus to host largest forum of specialists in titanium
For the first time in 16 years, Belarus will host a largest forum of specialists in titanium. On 19 April 2018 (Thursday), at 9:00 a.m., a grand opening of the 16th International conference «Ti-2018 in the CIS» will be held at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (praspiekt Niezaliežnasci, 66, large conference hall). In addition to the regular participants of the conference from the CIS countries (Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, and Belarus), the leading experts from Germany, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Poland, China, Ireland, USA, etc. will also take part on the forum. In total, more than 200 people from 15 countries worldwide plan to take part in the conference. Representatives of the largest Chinese state aerospace company AVIC, the Titan Interstate Association, the National Research Center «Kurchatov Institute», the Moscow Aviation Institute, the E.O. Paton Electric Welding Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the Yuzhnoye Design Bureau (Ukraine), etc. will arrive in Minsk.
NASB Council of Young Scientists invites to Young Scientist School “Turnkey Scientist 2018”
From 29 May to 1 June 2018, the Council of Young Scientists of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus conducts the Second Young Scientist School “Turnkey Scientist 2018.” The School is an intensive series of lectures, seminars, master classes, practical classes and round tables of leading scientists of the NAS of Belarus and invited lecturers for undergraduates, graduate students and young scientists on issues that are necessary for successful and effective work in science.
Opening of International Seminar of PanGeo Alliance of Earth Observation Satellites Operators to be held on April 18
On 18 April 2018, at 11:00 a.m., the International Seminar of the PanGeo Alliance of Earth Observation Satellites Operators will open in the hotel Europe (vul. Internacyjanaĺnaja, 28, Conference Hall, 7th floor). Representatives of large companies from China, Spain, the United Arab Emirates, the Republic of Kazakhstan, Singapore, and Canada will come to Minsk. The event is organized by the Scientific and Engineering Republican Unitary Enterprise Geoinformation Systems of the NAS of Belarus. On 18–19 April 2018, the forum participants are going to discuss current problems of the global Earth observation data market, and new technological solutions in the interest of potential consumers. Members of the PanGeo Alliance of Earth Observation Satellites Operators will also visit the NASB Geoinformation Systems unitary enterprise.
As previously reported, the NASB Geoinformation Systems unitary enterprise became a member of the International PanGeo Alliance of Earth Observation Satellite Operators in Paris on September 13, 2017.
Scientists of NAS of Belarus take part in press conference devoted to World Day of Aviation and Astronautics
On 11 April 2018, a press conference devoted to the World Day of Aviation and Astronautics was held at the National Press Center of the Republic of Belarus. Alexander Tuzikov, Director General of the NASB United Institute of Informatics Problems, NASB Corresponding Member; Boris Chernukha, Deputy Director for Scientific Work of the Geoinformation Systems Unitary Enterprise; and Sergey Korenyako, Head of the Department of Joint Programs of Space and Information Technologies of the NASB United Institute of Informatics Problems, represented the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus at the press conference.
As Alexander Tuzikov told journalists, the International Congress of the Association of Space Flights Participants will be held in Minsk on September 9-15. This large-scale forum will gather legendary researchers of outer space, participants of various space programs of the Soviet Union, Russia, and the USA (NASA programs).
NAS of Belarus invites to open lecture on blockchain technology

Artem Genkin is an expert in the theory of money and regulation of advanced technologies, Professor, Doctor of Economics, Member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, President of the Center for the Protection of Depositors and Investors, a founder of an electronic business magazine. Alexei Mikheev is a practitioner in the field of investment business, Doctor of Economics, Associate Professor of the Department of Public Administration and Law of MGIMO.
On 23 April 2018, at 4:00 p.m., they will deliver an open lecture devoted to the blockchain technology and the issues of transformation of money, society and state due to digitalization. The lecture will inspire ideas, open new opportunities for development, familiarize with mining, crypto industry and varieties of ICO.
4th International Student Natural Sciences Tournament opens at NAS of Belarus
On 10 April 2018, the 4th International Student Natural Sciences Tournament opened at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The NAS of Belarus organizes the event together with the Belarusian State University for the fourth time.
Vladimir Gusakov, Chairman of the NASB Presidium, greeted the audience at the opening ceremony and estimated the expansion of the participants’ geography as a sign of importance and significance of the event. Over the past years, more than 200 students and undergraduates from Belarus, Russia and Ukraine have participated in the tournament. This year, students from France and Germany take part in the tournament for the first time. In his welcome speech, Vladimir Gusakov acquainted students with the most significant developments of the NASB organizations, mainly in the field of natural sciences. He also invited young scientists to further cooperation with the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and emphasized that the Academy would be glad to welcome young talented undergraduates, graduate students and researchers.
