From May 20 to May 28, 2021, scientific organizations of the Department of Biological Science of the NAS of Belarus are holding the Week of Native Nature. The event is timed to coincide with the celebration of the International Day for Biological Diversity (22 May).
SRPA “SAC of the NAS of Belarus for Bioresources”, SSI “Institute of experimental botany named after V.F. Kuprevich of the NAS of Belarus”, SSI “Central Botanical Garden of the NAS of Belarus” and SSI “Forest Institute of the NAS of Belarus” have prepared a number of events. From May 17 to May 21, 2021, on the basis of the Narochansky National Park, the IX International scientific, practical and training similar “Dynamics condition and monitoring of forest ecosystems in specially protected natural areas” is being held for students, undergraduates, postgraduates, teachers and workers of the specialty “Forest economy” (“Forestry”). The participants of the seminar represent the SSI “Institute of experimental botany named after V.F. Kuprevich of the NAS of Belarus”, HEI of Belarus, the Russian Federation, Serbia.
May 20, 2021, a seminar will be held for the opening of the Week of Native Nature and a press conference “Biodiversity conservation is the common responsibility of mankind. On the current state of the ecosystem of Belarus and the conservation of rare species of plants and animals”, dedicated to the International Day for Biological Diversity (22 May). On the same day, on the basis of the SSI “Forest Institute of the NAS of Belarus” (Gomel), student scientific conference and the regional stage of the “Blossom, my forest!” junior competition will begin. A lecture for schoolchildren “Dangerous plants of Belarus” in the Skype format will be held on May 21, 2021. From 24 to 28 May, 2021, the VI International scientific, practical and training seminar “Modern technologies in the activities of specially protected areas: geoinformation systems, remote sensing of the Earth” will be held (venue the Narochansky National Park; participants from SRPA “SAC of the NAS of Belarus for Bioresources”, SSI “Institute of experimental botany named after V.F. Kuprevich of the NAS of Belarus”, environmental institutions of Belarus, Russian Federation, Ukraine).
The scientific and practical seminar “Dynamics of the species composition of fish in Belarus” will be held at the Center of Bioresources on May 26, 2021, on this very day a lecture “Micromycetes of conifers and their role in forest ecosystems of Belarus (consortium relations, taxonomic composition, ecological and geographical analysis) on the basis of the SSI “Institute of experimental botany named after V.F. Kuprevich of the NAS of Belarus”. “Zoo-Thursday” on the theme “Bats - invisible neighbors” and an action to restore order and improve the territory of the “Clean Coast” on the territory of the Vileika reservoir will be organized on May 27, 2021.
The excursion program of the Week of Negative Nature (May 20 - 28) will include: «Collection funds of the SRPA “SAC of the NAS of Belarus for Bioresources” », «Collection funds and expositions of the SSI “Central Botanical Garden of the NAS of Belarus” », including a collection of lilacs and rhododendrons in the flowering phase. At the SSI “Forest Institute of the NAS of Belarus” for students of secondary and secondary specialized institutions in Gomel, study excursions will be organized with a visit to the Museum of the history of the Institute of Forrest, the study-museum of academician V.A. Ipatiev, research laboratories of the Institute.
On May 20-27, visitors to the Central Botanical Garden of the NAS of Belarus will have consultations with researchers and specialists - curators of the collection of lilacs and rhododendrons (in the format of online meetings).
By the end of the Week of Native Nature event, video posts will be posted on the website of the Central Botanical Garden, in which experts will answer of the most popular and interesting questions about the agricultural technology of growing and caring for lilacs and rhododendrons.
The closing of the Week of Native Nature will take place on May 28, 2021 at the SRPA “SAC of the NAS of Belarus for Bioresources”.
During the Week of Native Nature, leading scientists of organizations of the Department of Biological Sciences the NAS of Belarus will deliver public lectures to the public, in the media, take part in presentations and festive events.
International Day for Biological Diversity was proclaimed by the UN General Assembly in 1995. Its goal is to rise the awareness of society in matters of preserving the ecological system, to draw public attention to the problem of irreversible destruction of many florae and fauna from the Earth.
