On May 13, 2021 the Physical-technical Institute of the NAS of Belarus celebrated his 90th anniversary. The opening of the Museum of the PTI of the NAS of Belarus took place within the framework of the ceremonial events.

The museum presents the historical path in the transformation of the directions of development of the Institute, shows the historical heritage of the scientist to worked there and made an important contribution to its development. There you can see historical exhibits of developments, biographies of the heads of the institution. Also, the books “Moving together” was presented, which tells about the history, achievements and destinies of employees who create new technologies and equipment. At the solemn meeting the First Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus Sergey Chizhik made a welcoming speech from the leadership of the NAS of Belarus. Institute Director Vitali Zaleski stressed that the scientific organization is constantly developing. “We do not stand still and become a special center of attraction. We want to combine our efforts with other institutes in factories to solve common problems and, with the help of a synergistic effect, achieve completely different results. This is the essence of our project, which we called “Academtechnograd”, - he noted. It is planned that the organizations of the NAS, which carry out activities in the field at materials science and metal processing technologies within the framework of the scientific and engineering center “Academtechnograd” will implement complex projects.

Representatives of ministries and department, heads of a number of organizations of the NAS of Belarus and HEI of the country, industrial holdings in enterprises of the republic, as well as foreign partners took part in the celebrations dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the Institute.

The Physical-technical Institute was established on March 29, 1931 on the basis of the Physics Department in accordance with the Decree of the Presidium of the Belarusian Academy of Sciences of March 29, 1931 № 9 and the Decree of the Council of People’s Commissars of the BSSR on May 13, 1931. Over the years that have passed since the day of its foundation, Phystech has gone from a small scientific organization to one of the largest institutes of the Department of Physical and Technical Sciences at the NAS of Belarus. Now the Physical-technical Institute of the NAS of Belarus includes 5 scientific departments, 12 laboratories and 2 branch laboratories, a scientific and engineering center “Academtechnograd”, a pilot production.
