The general meeting of the Council of the young scientists of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus was held at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus on March 17, 2022.
The event, which takes place in this format once every three years, was attended by representatives of the Councils of the young scientists of the departments of the Academy (one delegate from 25 young researchers), academicians – secretaries, and the leadership of the Academy of Sciences. The day before, the reporting meetings of the Councils of Young Scientists were held in all departments.
Stanislav Yuretsky, Deputy Chairman of the Council of the young scientists, made a report «On the results of the activities of the Council of Young Scientists for 2021». Much has been achieved. Among the landmark events held by the Council of the young scientists last year are the International Scientific and Practical Conference «Youth in Science - 2.0'21», the Republican Youth Forum: «Intellectual Belarus», the Open House Week, a series of interdisciplinary round tables on breakthrough areas of science, the School of the young scientists, the III Festival of Science – 2021, the forum «The Way to the Science», the competition of 100 talents of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, etc. Among the usual activities for the Council was the cooperation with the secondary specialized schools, organizing of the communication of the young scientists of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus with the talented students within the framework of special shifts of the National Children's Educational and Health Center «Zubrenok», holding master classes for the young researchers. The chairmen of the councils of the young scientists of the departments of sciences reported on their activities.
The second issue were the elections. As a result of an open vote, Stanislav Yuretsky, Deputy Director for Research at the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Candidate of Historical Sciences, was elected Chairman of the Council of Young Scientists of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. Elections of the vice-chairmen and the scientific secretary of the Council of the young scientists of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus were also held. Yegor Gusakov, Head of the sector of the Institute for System Research in the Agroindustrial Complex, and Dmitry Tokalchik, researcher at the Institute of Physiology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, became the vice-chairmen. Anna Karpenko, a researcher at the United Institute of Informatics Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, has been elected Scientific Secretary of the Council of the young scientist of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. Every year 300-350 young specialists join the ranks of the staff of the Academy of Sciences. As Vladimir Gusakov, Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, noted at the meeting of the General Meeting, «Currently, about 2,200 young researchers work in the organizations of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. This is a great creative potential. Today we are setting major and responsible tasks for scientific organizations. And young people should not stand aside from solving these important problems, actively join in the latest, breakthrough developments. This is the basis for scientific growth», Vladimir Gusakov emphasized. The Head of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus said that the Council of the young Scientists of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus held many significant events. This is a serious organization that copes with the responsible assignments. «We have the high hopes for the young people. The youth, the support of the young scientists is a priority in the activities of the National Academy of Sciences», said Vladimir Gusakov.
The issue of the holding the «Festival of Science - 2022» was also discussed at the general meeting of the Council of the young scientists. The main organizer of the festival is the Council of the young scientists of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. It is planned that the event will traditionally take place in September 2022. Last year, the science festival was attended by about 10,000 people.
Many young scientists were awarded the Acknowledgment of the Council of young scientists of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus for their active work.
