The Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, on behalf of Belarusian scientists, sent an appeal to cancel the decision to build a border fence in Belovezhskaya Pushcha to six international organizations in Russian, Belarusian, English and Chinese.

These are the Government of the Republic of Poland, the international independent non-governmental environmental organization Greenpeace, the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the Intergovernmental Committee for the Protection of the World and Natural Heritage (WHC), the International Union for the Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN), the Polish Academy of Sciences . The letter was also sent to the Belovezhsky National Park.

In their appeal, scientists of Belarus call on the Polish government to stop the construction of a protective border fence in Belovezhskaya Pushcha, and also appeal to international organizations whose activities are aimed at protecting nature, to take urgent measures to prevent possible colossal damage to a natural object that is of exceptional environmental importance.
