Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University and the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus signed an agreement on scientific and technical cooperation. The document was signed by the Rector of SPbPU, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Andrei Rudskoy and First Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Academician Sergei Chizhik.
The agreement signed between SPbPU and the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus is aimed at comprehensive cooperation in order to implement the joint programs and give the new impetus to interaction in the field of education and science. The parties agreed to conduct the joint fundamental and applied scientific research and development in the most important areas of science and technology development; development of scientific schools; training of highly qualified scientific workers; advanced training of scientists and specialists of the parties; implementation of joint projects, incl. promotion of created products and services.
After signing the agreement, the meeting participants discussed priority areas of cooperation, including life-science, modern technologies and advanced materials for mechanical engineering (additive technologies, powder materials, welding, etc.). The need to expand cooperation not only in the field of science, but also in the field of education was noted, especially since the Belarusian-Russian University has been a strategic partner of the Polytechnic University for many years.
At the meeting between the leadership of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, it was noted that cooperation with Belarus has been going on for a long time in the field of additive technologies, powder materials, and welding. One of the results of the joint activities was the monograph «Additive Technologies. Materials and Technological Processes», written by SPbPU scientists together with the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Baltic Industrial Company, and the Institute of Powder Metallurgy named after Academician O.V. Roman the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
The First Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus highly appreciated the cooperation of the Academy of Sciences with the Polytechnic University: «The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus is a large structure, it unites 110 organizations, and those 26 institutes that are part of the Physics and Technology Department already have several joint topics with the St. Petersburg Polytechnic University . We really appreciate our relations, and most importantly, we see the prospects and how serious they are,» Sergei Chizhik said.
For the outstanding achievements in science, fruitful work to strengthen scientific and technical ties and personal contribution to expanding cooperation, SPbPU Rector Andrey Rudsky was awarded a medal of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
During the visit, the Belarusian delegation got acquainted with the research infrastructure of the university. The visit to SibFU took place as part of a two-day visit to St. Petersburg of the Belarusian government delegation headed by the Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko.
