Within the framework of the 29th International Book Fair, the presentation of the monograph «The Peace of Riga in the fate of the Belarusian people: 1921– 1953» was held.
The book is the result of many years of research activity of the team of the authors of the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus in the framework of the implementation of the state research programs.
Presentations were made by the Rector of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Belarus V.V. Danilovich, Director of the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus V.L. Lakiza, as well as representatives of the team of authors – Head of the Department of Contemporary History of Belarus S.A. Tretiak and the senior researcher at the Center for the World History, International Relations and Geopolitics O.N. Borovskaya.
The reprinting and the wide popularization of this work within the framework of the Year of Historical Memory is of great importance and is aimed at shaping the historical worldview and preserving the historical memory.
For the first time in the Belarusian historiography, this two-volume edition highlights a number of complex problems in the Belarusian history in the first half of the 20th century. The historical and documentary essay analyzes various aspects of the influence of the Peace of Riga in 1921 and the geopolitical situation created by it on the historical fate of the Belarusian people. Most of the materials are introduced into scientific circulation for the first time. The publication is intended for the historians-researchers, teachers, students and all those who are interested in the history of Belarus.
