On August 1, 2022, the NAS of Belarus hosted talks between the Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus Vladimir Gusakov and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Arab Emirates to the Republic of Belarus Mr. Ibrahim Salim Al-Musharrah.
This is the first visit of a distinguished guest to the Academy of Sciences. During the talks, the current state of the Belarusian-Emirati cooperation, as well as new promising areas and mechanisms for joint scientific and technical activities were discussed. The guests of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus visited the exposition of the permanent exhibition «Achievements of National Science for Production», where they got acquainted in detail with the latest developments of scientists.
As the Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Vladimir Gusakov noted during the talks, «The Academy of Sciences is interested in cooperation with the United Arab Emirates. We have general questions. And we could cooperate with our scientists and get good results for the benefit of the economies of the two countries.»
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Arab Emirates to the Republic of Belarus, Mr. Ibrahim Salim Al-Musharrah, also expressed confidence that today the researchers of the two countries need to work more closely with each other. In particular, in such priority areas for the UAE as: artificial intelligence, green technologies, renewable energy sources, smart cities, food security, medical and space technologies, climate change issues. Vladimir Gusakov said that these areas are «direct priorities for the work of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. In all areas, we have scientific teams and institutes that are actively working on these issues. And there are good results.» The head of the Academy of Sciences spoke in detail about the ongoing developments and invited scientists from the United Arab Emirates to visit scientific organizations of the Academy of Sciences to enhance cooperation. In turn, Mr. Ibrahim Salim Al-Musharrah invited the scientists of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus to take part in international events dedicated to climate change, which will be held in the UAE in 2023.
