On August 22, 2022, a meeting of the Inter-Academic Council on the Development of the Union State of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus was held on the topic: «Technological Sovereignty of the Union State».
The event was held in a combined format. A representative delegation of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus took part in the meeting on the basis of the Presidium of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Novosibirsk). Among the speakers: Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Valentin Parmon, Chairman of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Academician Sergei Chizhik, First Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Academician Alexander Kilchevsky, Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Academicians - Secretaries of the Departments of Sciences of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, leading scientists of the two countries.
Speaking at the meeting, Academician Sergei Chizhik, First Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, noted the importance of the topics that were brought up for discussion. «Today, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus is actively involved in the topic of the import substitution. I think that import substitution and technological sovereignty are very close topics. Today, Belarusian scientists have plans and schedules for the working with various ministries and departments in industry, the chemical industry, and computer science. Therefore, those blocks that are submitted to the meeting are extremely relevant», the academician emphasized.
The participants of the event considered a number of the important issues related to the expansion of cooperation between the scientists from Belarus and Russia to ensure the technological sovereignty of the Union State. Among the blocks that were discussed by the participants of the event, such problems as: fundamental science for the technological sovereignty in the field of artificial intelligence and information security, technological sovereignty in the field of genetic technologies, medicine and agriculture, in the field of pharmaceuticals, small-tonnage chemistry, in the field of scientific instrumentation. Particular attention was paid to the development of the technological sovereignty of Belarus and Russia in the field of the mechanical engineering and, first of all, as part of the creation of heavy-duty tools and materials for mechanical engineering and machine tool building. Scientists also paid attention to technological sovereignty in the field of energy, including, in a broader sense, new green energy, hydrocarbon processing, and modernization of traditional energy.
At the meeting, it was noted that today the scientists of Belarus and Russia need to rely on a powerful scientific potential, join efforts to achieve significant goals and successfully solve the problems that the economies of the two countries face today.
