In the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the cluster Research and Production Corporation Belkosmos has been created.

This decision was made today, November 15, 2022, at a meeting of the Bureau of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The Regulation on the cluster «Research and Production Corporation «Belkosmos» have been approved. Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Vladimir Gusakov is the head of the cluster.

Belcosmos has been established with a view to realizing and developing promising (cluster) projects of its participants in the area of peaceful research and use of outer space.

The cluster includes a number of organizations of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus: State Scientific Institution «United Institute of Informatics Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus», Scientific Engineering Republican Unitary Enterprise «Geoinformation Systems», Republican Unitary Enterprise «Research and Production Center for Multifunctional Unmanned Systems» of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, as well as organizations the academy cooperates with. This is the Belarusian-Chinese company Aviation Technologies and Systems, OOO KB Unmanned Helicopters. The head organization of the cluster is the United Institute of Informatics Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

Belcosmos is supposed to work out a policy and a strategy for Belarus' development in outer space, work out proposals on forming programs of the Union State of Belarus and Russia, the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Eurasian Economic Union, government programs and projects as well as sets of measures for implementing them; to carry out fundamental scientific research in the area of outer space; to implement scientific research activities in the field of exploration and use of outer space for peaceful purposes; to develop new competitive aerospace products.

Belkosmos Corporation will also contribute to the effective implementation of projects aimed at improving the competitiveness of products (works, services) of Belkosmos Corporation participants; provide methodological support, information and consulting support, scientific and educational support for the functioning of Belkosmos Corporation; promote the implementation of developments of Belkosmos Corporation participants, including promising production technologies, engineering and management technologies, the latest equipment, in the economic sector and improving the efficiency of interaction between science and production; develop mechanisms for commercialization of the results of scientific and scientific and technological activities of the participants of the Belkosmos Corporation; implement promising forms of international scientific and technological cooperation, etc.

Coordination of activities on the implementation of the resolution of the Bureau of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus is entrusted to the National Agency for Space Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
