On January 24, 2023, a press conference dedicated to the Day of Belarusian Science was held at the National Press Center of the Republic of Belarus.
Speakers at the event were: Vladimir Gusakov, Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Academician; Shlychkov Sergey Vladimirovich, Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus; Starovoitova Irina Anatolyevna, First Deputy Minister of Education of the Republic of Belarus and Dosina Margarita Olegovna, Head of the Science Department of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus. They spoke in detail about the priority areas of scientific research that the country's scientists are working on and the latest results of the researchers' work.
According to Vladimir Gusakov, «On the eve of our professional holiday, the Day of Belarusian Science, scientists of the academic, branch and university scientific spheres demonstrated their achievements at the exhibition Intellectual Belarus. The exposition, which presents more than 400 positions, showed that scientists in our country can solve any problems from IT technologies, artificial intelligence and robotics with applications in medicine, agriculture, environmental management and ecology, to spacecraft, electric transport and military instrumentation. The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, as the main scientific organization of the country, has built a dynamic system of interdisciplinary and intersectoral interrelations «science – education – production». The exhibition Intellectual Belarus was visited by more than 30 thousand people in three days.»
Vladimir Gusakov also said that Belarus has developed a microelectronics development program. The program was adopted by the Council of Ministers. «As part of this program, we have created a microelectronics cluster, which includes a number of enterprises in this field and academic organizations. Periodically we hold meetings where we summarize the results, determine the directions of further development,» Vladimir Gusakov said. Vladimir Gusakov also shared his plans for the future. For example, in the near future, a Virology Center will be opened in the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
