On February 1, 2023, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus hosted a meeting of the Republican Council for Historical Policy under the Administration of the President of the Republic of Belarus, the first this year. The participants of the event considered a number of important issues. Among them are the results of the work of the commissions on areas of activity for 2022, the work plan of the Republican Council for Historical Policy for 2023, the concept and the organization of a multi-volume fundamental publication "History of Belarus" preparation.
"The Year of Historical Memory has passed. The Republican Council for Historical Policy under the Administration of the President of the Republic of Belarus was established by the decree of the Head of State on February 4, 2022 in the Year of Historical Memory. During this time, a lot has been done in terms of preserving the historical heroic past, developing approaches to assessing various periods of history, preserving the culture and traditions of the Belarusian people," Head of the Administration of the President Igor Sergeenko said. "I would like to note that a number of events, issues that we planned and considered last year were submitted by both members of the Council and executive committees, scientists, researchers. We found solutions and common ground on all issues. There were discussions, disputes. Especially when there was a question about the publication of textbooks, the format, the assessment of certain historical periods and historical figures," Igor Sergeenko stressed. "One of the main tasks of the Council is to develop common approaches to assessing our history. Accordingly, its introduction into our lives: both in education and in the upbringing process."
The Republican Council for Historical Policy under the Administration of the President of Belarus works on a permanent basis.
