In 2023, scientists and cartographers of Belarus, with the support of the republican government bodies, began work on updating and republishing the fundamental scientific and reference cartographic work — the National Atlas of Belarus.

In order to resolve organizational issues, on February 1, 2023, the first meeting of the main editorial board of Atlas was held at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The event was attended by Chairman of the Presidium Vladimir Gusakov, First Deputy Chairman of the Presidium Sergey Chizhik, Chief Scientific Secretary Vasily Gursky and other outstanding scientists from the Academy of Sciences.

Within the framework of this event, an exhibition of national atlases of other states was organized, as well as atlases created by the Republican Unitary Enterprise Belcartography and awarded with high state and international awards, including the Great Historical Atlas of Belarus, awarded the prize of the Head of State "For Spiritual Revival".
