National Academy of Sciences of Belarus holds the traditional Native Nature Week 2023

From May 22 to May 26, 2023, scientific organizations of the Department of Biological Sciences of the NAS of Belarus hold a Native Nature Week. By tradition, the event is timed to the celebration of the International Day of Biological Diversity (May 22)*. Scientific and Practical Center of the NAS of Belarus on Bioresources, Institute of Experimental Botany named after V.F. Kuprevich of the NAS of Belarus, Central Botanical Garden of the NAS of Belarus and the Forest Institute have prepared a number of events.

On the eve of the Native Nature Week, on May 15–21, the VIII International Scientific and Practical Seminar Modern Technologies in The Activities of Specially Protected Natural Areas: Geoinformation Systems, Remote Sensing (GIS-Naroch-2023, Narachanski National Park), a student scientific conference and the regional stage of the junior competition Bloom, My Forest (Forest Institute of the NAS of Belarus, Gomiel), as well as the educational event World Bee Day (Central Botanical Garden of the NAS of Belarus).

On May 22, 2023, an opening seminar of the Native Nature Week will be held, timed to the International Day of Biological Diversity, at which leading scientists of the Department of Biological Sciences of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, representatives of scientific organizations, ministries and departments will speak. On the same day, a presentation of a monograph by scientists of the Institute of Experimental Botany named after V.F. Kuprevich of the NAS of Belarus "Ground and Remote Methods for Assessing the State of Ecosystems of Specially Protected Natural Areas" will be held.
On May 24 and 25, 2023, the lectures Analysis of The Composition and Structure of Plant Communities: The Problem is Deeper Than The Statement of A Set of Species and The Protected World and the Red Book of Belarus will take place.
On May 22–26, 2023, the Forest Institute of the NAS of Belarus will organize an information and educational project Dialogues About Nature. In its framework, at meetings with students of Gomiel scientists will discuss the biodiversity of forest ecosystems, rational nature management and the policy pursued in our country in the field of nature protection.
On May 26, the staff of the Institute of Experimental Botany named after V.F. Kuprevich of the NAS of Belarus will join the Clean Coast campaign to restore order and improve the territory of the coastal strip of the Viliejskaje reservoir, as well as hold a field training lecture Biodiversity: in Simple Words About The Complex or The First Steps to Cognition of Native Nature for schoolchildren of the Giermanovichy Secondary School of Sharkawshchynski district (Viciebsk region).

Traditionally, within the framework of the Native Nature Week, scientists have prepared a wide excursion program.
Introductory excursions will be organized for secondary school students on the topic: Collection Funds and Research Laboratories of The Scientific and Practical Center of the NAS of Belarus on Bioresources. As part of the Native Nature Week (May 22–26), it will be possible to get acquainted with the collection funds and expositions of the Central Botanical Garden of the NAS of Belarus, including the rhododendron and lilac collections that have entered the flowering phase. At the Forest Institute of the NAS of Belarus for students of secondary and secondary special institutions of Gomiel, residents of the regional center familiarization tours will be organized Collection Funds and Research Laboratories of the Forest Institute of the NAS of Belarus with a visit to the Museum of the History of the Forest Institute, the cabinet-museum of Academician Victor A. Ipatiev, research laboratories of the Institute.
