On June 20, Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus Pyotr Kazakevich held talks with Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Nicaragua Bosco Castillo, during which they discussed the current state of cooperation between the NAS of Belarus and scientific organizations of Nicaragua, as well as promising ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the field of agriculture.

The parties agreed to work out the possibility of organizing cooperation in the following areas: exchange of genetic material of agricultural crops, animal husbandry, internships of scientists and specialists, training of Nicaraguan specialists in master's and postgraduate studies of the NAS of Belarus, etc.

A visit to the Scientific and Practical Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus on Potato and Fruit and Vegetable Growing was organized for Bosco Castillo. The Deputy Minister visited breeding and hybrid modules on potato growing, as well as experimental planting of potatoes, fruit and berry crops. During the negotiations, Mr. Castillo reported the interim results of agroecological tests in Nicaragua of previously transferred potato varieties of Belarusian selection.
