The Department of Humanities and Arts of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, with the participation of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus, the Plenipotentiary for Religions and Nationalities, the Belarusian Orthodox Church, is holding a round table on November 30, 2023 on the Role and Place of the Heritage of Folk Spiritual Culture in Modern Belarusian Society. The purpose of the round table is to identify the role and place of the heritage of folk spiritual culture in modern Belarusian society, to reveal ways, mechanisms and forms of preserving and representing the unique polyphony of the Belarusian ethno-confessional space to strengthen the spiritual, cultural and humanitarian security of the country. It is planned to discuss the following issues: ways to preserve the spiritual and historical values of the Belarusian people, the historical and cultural heritage of the Republic of Belarus within the framework of the implementation of UNESCO conventions; the role of Orthodoxy in the formation of the spiritual culture and cultural traditions of the Belarusian people; freedom of conscience and religion in Belarus as the basis for maintaining social stability and interfaith peace; trends in the sacralization of cultural symbols; the sociological dimension of the festive culture of modern Belarus; problems of ethnocosmology and modern Belarusian intellectual discourse; religious aspects of folk medicine; reflection of folk spiritual culture in national cinema and literature.
