This year, Vadim Anatolyevich Stepanov, Director of the Tomsk National Research Medical Center of the RAS, Academician of the RAS, delivered a lecture. The topic of the lecture is Human Genomics, Modern Medical Genetics and Evolutionary Medicine. Vadim Anatolyevich is the author of more than 400 scientific papers. The main scientific research is related to fundamental and applied areas in the field of human population genetics, genomics and genetics of common diseases, and personalized medicine. Under his leadership, studies of the genes of cardiovascular diseases were conducted, which made it possible to identify genome variants associated with susceptibility to coronary heart disease and atherosclerosis in Russian populations. Based on these studies, genetic algorithms and microchip test systems have been developed to assess the risk of certain common diseases.
