Joint meeting of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus and the Board of the SCST held in the NAS of Belarus

On January 24, 2024, a joint meeting of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Board of the State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus was held at the NAS of Belarus under the leadership of Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Pyotr Parkhomchik. The results of scientific, technical and innovative activities in 2021–2023, goals and objectives for the scientific sphere of the republic for 2024–2025 and the subsequent 5-year period were considered. The participants of the joint meeting discussed the draft Comprehensive Forecast of Scientific and Technological Progress of the Republic of Belarus for 2026–2030 and for the period up to 2045, as well as proposals on priority areas of scientific, technical and innovative activities for 2026–2030.

During the joint meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Pyotr Parkhomchik made proposals on improving the scientific sphere, introducing breakthrough scientific developments of Belarusian scientists at enterprises in the real sector of the economy, goals and objectives for the future.

Thus, the Deputy Prime Minister noted the need to intensify work on the development of unmanned vehicles, including ensuring the suitability of this transport for public roads of the country. Pyotr Parkhomchik instructed to accelerate the work on the creation of the most important element in the Republic of Belarus - a storage device for electric vehicles of domestic production. The Deputy Prime Minister stressed the importance of developing technology for the disposal of lithium-ion batteries, in particular those imported to the Republic of Belarus. This problem needs to be worked out with the Russian side for a joint solution, including within the framework of the programs of the Union State. The sectoral government agencies were instructed to go into the issue of creating new production facilities and the possible resumption of work of previously operating enterprises in the regions of the country.

Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Pyotr Parkhomchik got acquainted in detail with the projects of young scientists of the NAS of Belarus, which were presented at the qualifying stage of the Republican Youth Innovation Project 100 Ideas for Belarus.
