Mikhail Khailov, Deputy Director General of Roscosmos, awarded the badge For Services to the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus

On July 26, 2024, Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus Vladimir Gusakov presented the badge For Services to the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus to Mikhail Khailov, Deputy Director General for Space Complexes and Systems of the Roscosmos State Corporation. Mikhail Nikolayevich was honoured with a high award for his significant contribution to the expansion of international scientific relations, strengthening international scientific and technical cooperation in the space sector between the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the State Corporation for Space Activities Roscosmos.

Vladimir Gusakov noted: "At the present stage in Russia and Belarus, the needs of users for the characteristics of space information provided by the current joint grouping of remote sensing satellites have increased significantly. In this regard, in 2017, the presidents of our countries Alexander G. Lukashenko and Vladimir V. Putin decided to create a Russian-Belarusian remote sensing spacecraft (RBS, РБКА) with a spatial resolution of 0.35 m, which is not inferior in technical and economic characteristics to the best world analogues. The implementation of this project was entrusted to the NAS of Belarus and the State Corporation Roscosmos". As Vladimir Gusakov noted at the ceremony, it was Mikhail Khailov who stood at the origins of the project to create the Russian-Belarusian remote sensing spacecraft, since 2017 he has been its permanent head from the State Corporation Roscosmos to the present.
