Personal exhibition of watercolour works by Academician of the NAS of Belarus Aliaksandr Lakotka starts its work

On October 3, 2024, the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus hosted the grand opening of a personal exhibition of watercolour works by the Director of the Centre for the Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature Researches of the NAS of Belarus, Doctor habilitatus in History, Doctor habilitatus in Architecture, Professor, Academician of the NAS of Belarus Aliaksandr Ivanavich Lakotka ‘Belarus Krasoju Viechnaju’ (Belarus as Eternal Beauty).

The watercolour works for this exhibition were made by the author based on the results of expeditions, trips, and travels in Belarus over the past three years. Many were completed in 2024. There are 64 works in total. Most of the works are being shown for the first time.

The concept of the exhibition is to reflect the beauty and colourfulness of the Belarusian landscapes of different regions at different times of the year, their unique flavour, space, emotionality. The landscapes organically contain farms, estates, towns, blessed by the ringing of church bells, under the blessing of the baker's work. The mirrored brilliance of lakes, sparkling ribbons of rivers, the coolness of springs, the old-time forest trails – that has since ancient times nourished and nurtured love for the native corner, the country, the Motherland. This is our habitat, a space of historical memory and patriotism.

The exhibition will run until November 3, 2024.
