Congratulations from the Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Vladimir Karanik, on the Day of Belarusian Science
Dear colleagues! Dear friends!
On behalf of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and myself, I congratulate you on your professional holiday – Belarusian Science Day.
The past year has been a landmark year for the development of domestic science, significantly defining its role in the country's future. The President of the Republic of Belarus, A. Lukashenko, noted the importance of cutting-edge developments by domestic scientists that meet the needs of the state and society: “There can be no country without science!”
Ahead of us lies the congress of Belarusian scientists, initiated by the Head of State, which will identify the industry's key priorities for the coming years. But already today, we must develop mechanisms that will make science even more effective, strengthen its ties with industry, and meet the demands of the times. The social status and well-being of Belarusian scientists, as well as the prestige of national science as a whole, will depend on the performance of each of you.
The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus is today the heart of national science, but its further development is impossible without the combined efforts of the entire country. Productive collaboration between academic, university, and industry-specific research yields results in demand in industry, agriculture, medicine, education, and many other areas of social development. I am confident that the consolidation of the country's scientific community will ensure the achievement of the ambitious goals set for the further technological, economic, social and cultural development of Belarus.
Throughout human history, scientists have encountered doubts and difficulties, and modern researchers face them too. In such moments, I urge you not to give up and always find the strength to believe in yourself, remembering the ancient wisdom: "Radices litterarum amarae sunt, fructus dulces"— the roots of science are bitter, but the fruits are sweet.
Dear colleagues, I wish you high spirits, vital energy, good humor, and success in implementing your boldest ideas!
Vladimir KARANIK,
Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus
