The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus held a ceremony to award laureates of a number of academic competitions and prizes for 2025. Today, 54 people received prestigious awards from Vladimir Karanik, Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus. Among them were the winner of the "Scientist of the Year of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus" competition, laureates of the "Top 10" competitions in fundamental and applied research, and 100 Young Talents, as well as those awarded prizes from the NAS of Belarus. In addition, the scientific achievements of representatives of the Academy of Sciences were recognized with Certificates of Honor from the Higher Attestation Commission and the Ministry of Education.
Presenting the medal and diploma of the Scientist of the Year of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus to the Director of Minsk Scientific and Practical Center for Surgery, Transplantology and Hematology, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Academician Oleg Rummo, Vladimir Karanik noted his high personal qualities, competence and professionalism, as well as his great achievements in scientific research. At the same time, the Chairman of the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences emphasized that Oleg Rummo, as the director of the scientific and practical center for surgery, transplantology and hematology, has to personally take responsibility for complex and difficult issues.
"Perhaps not everyone understands what it means to take responsibility for a human life. You possess leadership qualities, and your team is like a stone wall behind you. The prestigious title of 'Scientist of the Year of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus – 2025' is a well-deserved award. We are proud that you are a full member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and hope to applaud your achievements again and again," said Vladimir Karanik.
In turn, Oleg Rummo, Director of Minsk Scientific and Practical Center for Surgery, Transplantology, and Hematology, thanked him and the entire thousands-strong staff of the scientific and practical center he manages for their high praise for their personal achievements. "The team, whose primary goal is saving lives, has undergone a long transformation—from an ordinary city clinical hospital to a truly scientific and practical center. We all want Belarus to be a high-tech and prosperous country," he said.
At the conclusion of the event, Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Vladimir Karanik thanked those present for achieving high results in scientific, technical, and innovative activities and wished everyone inspiration and continued success.
