On December 10, 2015 Belarus and Turkmenistan signed the roadmap of cooperation for the years 2016-2017. The document was signed during the official visit of President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to Turkmenistan. The document was signed by the two presidents Alexander Lukashenko and Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. In addition, the documents on cooperation in the food and light industries between the Academy of Sciences of the two countries were signed. The Agreement on scientific and technical cooperation was signed between the Center for Technology of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan and the Institute of Genetics and Cytology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The Institute of Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan and the Institute of Chemistry of New Materials of NAS of Belarus signed the provision on a joint laboratory for the production of chemical products.

The laboratory is planned to carry out scientific and technical work in the following areas: improvement of oil and gas technology; synthesis of organic compounds and biologically active substances and their use in agriculture and medicine; treatment and reuse of waste water and mineral water, industrial waste; development and implementation of science-based technology for clean drinking water; optimization of technologies (technological parameters) of existing production facilities in the chemical, oil and gas, energy, construction, food and other industries.
